Supply Chain

Jorge de Silva is a supply chain specialist in fashion apparel, fabrics, shoes and textiles. Retailers engage his services to test the competitiveness of the supply base, speed up the design-to-delivery cycle, or source new products. He also helps clients establish internal processes to monitor supplier compliance to ethical standards.

Career Highlights:

Jorge started his career in the 70’s with Jackson The Tailors, the Burton Group and his own family business, establishing manufacturing operations in Southern Ireland and in the UK. In 1986 he joined Gap Inc. as Director of European Sourcing, and for 15 years he held directorships in Sourcing, Fabric Development and Product Design.

In the late 90′s, as Director of Global Compliance, he was responsible for Gap’s factories in 22 countries throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East, producing some 80 million garments annually.

He left Gap in 2002 to start Castor Holdings, a U.S. based consultancy firm specialising in supply chain management, code compliance and CSR.  Jorge’s pragmatic approach and extensive field experience has helped him build a strong client portfolio both here and in the Far East. During 2005-07 he was seconded full-time to French Connection PLC as Group Production Director.

Jorge holds a BA in Textiles from Leeds University, an MBA from Durham University Business School and is a qualified SA8000 Lead Auditor.
